Annual Quiz master Ollie Tayler helps South West Women in Construction (SWWIC) raise funds for the Children’s Hospice South West, Precious Lives Appeal 2010
Businesses in the construction industry, based in Plymouth and throughout the South West, will be joining force to enter this year’s annual fun Trivia Quiz Evening, organised by local South West Women in Construction group SWWIC, at the Royal Plymouth Corinthian Yacht Club.
Each year SWWIC concentrates on organising a variety of social fundraising events to raise money for charitable causes. Part of SWWIC’s fundraising series of events this year, will raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West.
Children’s Hospice South West’s Precious Lives Appeal has been set up to fund the build of a very much needed third children’s hospice for the South West of England. Their appeal is now at over £3.5 million. Everything is going very well, with exciting times ahead as the building work has just started.
Emma Lloyd, Children’s Hospice South West Head of Fundraising (West) said: “It is marvelous to have the continued support of SWWIC, and their latest fundraiser looks like great fun. The evening will be packed full of trivia to test the team members’ collective brainpower, including a ‘crazy construction’ round in which SWWIC should have a head start! Good luck to all the teams taking part. I’m sure you’ll have a fantastic evening.”
Chair of SWWIC, Lucy George-Foster said: “Businesses within the construction industry have shown tremendous support to make this year’s event another success. It would be great to beat last year’s sum raised for such a truly worthy local charity.” Our thanks to Olli and Emma Taylor, from Roberts Flooring Contractors Ltd., and Sarah Lee, from Stride Treglown Limited for tirelessly organizing the quiz
South West Director of Interserve Project Services Ltd., Richard Ellis, has generously agreed to sponsor the winner’s trophy. SWWIC is also extremely grateful to the invaluable support from several local businesses who have generously donated raffle prizes. Kier Western supplied an amazing prize; a meal cooked for two at their home by the recent Masterchef quarter finalist, Roz Anslow, including a demonstration of one of the dishes she produced on the TV show.
For those who enjoy cooking, there is a Veg Box from The Nearly Naked Veg Company!! Willmot Dixon donated a £50 voucher to buy gig tickets at the Colston Hall in Bristol. Royal Plymouth Corinthian Yacht Club is giving a meal for two. There is a box of wine from STMC Building Control and a bottle of Gin from Stride Treglown Limited.
