SWWIC join forces with the Royal Marines to raise money

(and give us an extra special Ladies with Influence lunch!)

As a very special Ladies with Influence Lunch, our influential ladies of SWWIC (and our very special guest, an ex Naval Wren now in her 70’s!) were treated to some sea trips on a variety of spectacular amphibious craft with the elite 1 Assault Group Royal Marines last Friday. The consensus of opinion seemed to be ‘fun, but terrifying’!

Our Chair Lucy George-Foster said “We were extremely honoured to enjoy the “once in a life-time opportunity” of going to sea with the Royal Marines.  They are an immensely hard working, dedicated, and committed unit who face extreme dangers in carrying out their role helping to protect us all.  It was a proud moment to meet senior staff and several members of the unit who took great care of us whilst demonstrating some of the crafts capabilities at sea. I, and I am sure the ladies of SWWIC, will dine out on the experience for our life times.”

One of the younger members of the group was heard to say “I doubt I will ever again do anything quite so exhilarating!”.
